Drain Repair in Kokomo, Indiana
A clog you can clear. A cracked drain line leaks every time you use the sink, and in Kokomo it’s usually hiding in a wall, under a slab or in a cast-iron stack that’s been there since the house was built. Summers Plumbing Heating & Cooling repairs, replaces and installs drain lines out of 1609 Rank Parkway Court across Howard and Tipton counties: the trap under the kitchen sink, the branch line in the wall, the main stack in the basement, the floor drain, and the line under the slab. Our plumbers are licensed, drug-tested and background-checked, they carry a camera to confirm the break before cutting anything open, and you get the price in writing before any work starts. Phones are answered 24/7.

Drain Line Problems We Repair Every Week in Kokomo
- Leak under the kitchen or bathroom sink. A cracked P-trap, a slip joint that’s let go, or a disposal flange that’s rusted. Usually a same-visit fix.
- Water stain on the ceiling below a bathroom. The tub drain shoe, the toilet flange, or a branch drain joint in the floor is leaking. We open the smallest section of ceiling we can, fix it and leave it ready for patching.
- Cast-iron stack rusted or cracked. The main vertical drain in a pre-1970 Kokomo home. It scales from the inside, then cracks or rusts through at the hub. We replace the bad section in PVC with proper transition couplings, or the full stack if it’s gone.
- Drain line under the slab. A soggy spot in the floor, a smell that won’t go away, or a camera that shows a break under the concrete. We locate it from above, saw-cut the slab over the break, replace the pipe, and pour the floor back. Water-supply leaks under the slab are a different repair; see slab leak repair.
- Floor drain that backs up or won’t hold water. A cracked trap or a crushed line under the basement floor. Common in older homes near downtown Kokomo where the floor drain ties into a clay line.
- Recurring clogs the camera traced to a belly or a broken fitting. No amount of drain cleaning fixes a pipe that’s sagging or broken. That section gets replaced.
- Galvanized drain lines rusted shut. Older bathrooms with galvanized branch drains that cabling can’t open anymore. We re-run them in PVC.
New Drain Lines for Remodels and Additions
Adding a basement bathroom, moving the kitchen sink to an island, putting a laundry room on the second floor, or finishing a bar with a wet sink all need new drain and vent lines run to code. We rough-in drains for Kokomo remodels and additions: sizing the line, venting it properly so it doesn’t gurgle or siphon traps, tying into the stack or the under-slab main, and getting it inspected. For a basement bath below the sewer line, that includes a sewage ejector pump. Tell us what you’re building and we’ll quote the plumbing rough-in.
What a Summers Drain Repair Visit Looks Like
- You call 765-236-1212 or book online; a real person answers, day or night.
- We text you the plumber’s name and arrival window. Same-day for most Howard and Tipton County calls.
- The plumber confirms the leak or break. For anything inside a wall, under a floor or under the slab, that means a camera inspection and a locator mark, so we open exactly one spot.
- You get the repair price in writing, and for a larger job the replace-the-section vs. replace-the-run comparison.
- We make the repair in PVC or ABS with the right transition fittings to the existing pipe, test it under flow, and leave the opening clean and ready for the drywall or concrete patch.
- For under-slab work we saw-cut, remove, replace, backfill and pour the concrete back to the surrounding grade.
Drain Repair Pricing in Kokomo
Trap and under-sink repairs are flat-rate from the price book, quoted before we start. Wall, ceiling, stack and under-slab repairs are quoted after the camera shows us what and where, because the price depends on access more than on the pipe. Either way you get it in writing before any cutting, we meet or beat written quotes from other local companies, and financing is available for stack replacement and under-slab work. Drain Repair or Sewer Line Repair?
Inside the foundation walls, it’s a drain line and it’s this page. From the point the main drain leaves the house to the connection at the street or the septic tank, it’s the sewer lateral; see sewer line repair. The symptoms overlap, which is why we camera first: a backup in the basement floor drain can be a cracked trap three feet away or a root ball forty feet out in the yard, and they’re very different jobs.

Drain Repair FAQs for Kokomo Homeowners
How do I know if it’s a clog or a broken drain?
A clog backs up; a break leaks. If the fixture drains but there’s water, a stain or a smell somewhere it shouldn’t be, the pipe is damaged. If it won’t drain at all, start with a $59 drain cleaning, and if the cable finds a break, we’ll show you on camera.
Do you have to open the wall or the floor?
For anything beyond the trap, yes, but only where the camera and locator say the break is. One access hole, not an exploratory one. We leave it clean and square so a drywall or concrete patch is straightforward.
Should I replace the whole cast-iron stack or just the bad section?
If the rest of the stack is sound on camera, replace the section. If it’s scaled thin along its length or you’re already opening the wall for a remodel, replace the stack; doing it in two trips costs more than doing it once. We show you both prices.
Can you add a drain for a basement bathroom?
Yes. Below the sewer line it needs a sewage ejector pit and pump, which we install along with the drain and vent rough-in. Above the sewer line we tie in by gravity. Either way it’s permitted and inspected.
How long does an under-slab drain repair take?
Usually one day for the cut, repair and pour, plus concrete cure time before the floor finish goes back. We’ll give you the schedule with the quote.
